The future success of the Third Carrickfergus Band relies heavily on the junior band, the training ground for the musicians of tomorrow. Thankfully, we have a dedicated and plentiful supply of talent coming through the ranks thanks to the exhaustive and sometimes thankless efforts of Peter Arthurs, Des Graham and other senior band members, who give their time and experience to ensure that the junior members cultivate and encourage their talents and hopefully inspire them to aim towards integrating into the senior band, which to date has been extremely successful, with a total of nine members of the current senior band having graduated from the junior band.

The junior band meet in the War Memorial Hall on Lancasterian Street (beside the fire station) each Saturday morning from 10.30 am until 12.00 am. The band tutors are:

Cost is only £1 per week per person for instrument and tuition.

The junior band compete in the annual Brass Band League solos and quartets competition and also at Carrickfergus and Mossgrove musical festivals. The band also gives an annual concert and prizegiving on the first Saturday in June each year.
