Cathryn Arthurs - Second Baritone

Cathryn Arthurs As an Occupational Therapist I find music a very effective therapeutic medium in reducing stress, providing relaxation, joy and a great sense of achievement.

I have been playing music for most of my life. I first began on the piano at the age of 3 and went on to achieve Grade 4 Trinity.

During high school I took up the concert in C flute. I obtained Grade 4 and was a member of the world champion, Ballyclare Victoria Flute Band, during which time I took part in a BBC recording.

At the end of 2001, I saw the light as some might say, by joining the Third Carrickfergus Band where I firstly played 3rd cornet for 1 year. The 2nd baritone position became available in 2002 and, since I was finding the cornet difficult, I gave the baritone a go and the rest is history.

Other notable moments include completing a tandem parachute jump for charity, climbing Slieve Donard, obtaining a Gold Duke of Edinburgh award and achieving a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy.

To relax I enjoy cake decoration and walking.
