My name is Hannah Copes. I joined Third Carrickfergus beginners in 2006 never having played a brass instrument in my life and to my delight was promoted to the junior band in 2007.  In August 2009 I got a surprise call from Des asking me to come down to his house as he had something to tell me. The surprising news was that I was getting promoted into the "big band". This came as a shock to me as I didn't think I was good enough to be joining the more experienced players of Third Carrickfergus Senior Band.  However, the next month I happily settled into 3rd cornet position.

Currently I am playing Solo Cornet and enjoying slightly more challenging parts. The band is helping build up my confidence as I have quite a shy personality. I have also gained experience from performing at contests and concerts. I am currently working on my grade 6 cornet and strive to go on to work and improve my technique. I also play the piano and have just passed my grade 8 with merit and am currently working for my diploma.

I really enjoy playing in Third Carrickfergus Band and I feel it's a privilege to be part of the "family".
