SEPTET TRAVEL TO SCOTLAND TO PLAY AT WEDDING OF FORMER
PLAYER
Mid March saw 7 members of the band travel to Stirling in
Scotland to play at the wedding of the band's former Soprano Cornet player
Alistair Dawson. The septet consisted of Des Graham, Claire Hueston, Ruth
Binding, Stephen Cowden, Andrew Crawford, William Johnston and Peter Graham, who performed all of the music for the marriage ceremony. The music was arranged by Des Graham and Peter Dawson (father
of the groom - who is also the band's current bass trombone player) and
consisted of Gbriel's Oboe (for the arrival of the bride), Ave Maria (signing
the register) and Trumpet Tune (exit of the bride and groom) plus the
two hymns. After the wedding a lavish reception was held nearby where
the party went on until the small hours of the morning. The band would
like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the Dawson family
for the invitation to take part on the day and send Alistair and Maureen
congratulations and best wishes for the future. As usual Mr Dawson (Snr) was in top form and resplendent
in his kilt, however, Ruth will confirm that he is not a true Scotsman
- bit of a cop out even if it was a chilly day. |
